歩いて帰ろう

I’m taking time out of my studying to bring you my music suggestion for November. That’s right – 160 kanji I have to learn and I’m here providing you with songs I think are rad. You better enjoy this one!

This month is 歩いて帰ろう(aruite kaerou), by Kazuyoshi Saito. The title means “Return on Foot”. Actually this song is quite old; from 1994. But of course I only heard it recently.

I was at the game center playing jubeat knit (I’m still trying to master one game before returning to America) and had to pick a song I hadn’t already done to death. I just so happened to touch the tile for this song and liked the sound of it, so I chose it. It was after that it got stuck in my head, even with all of the overwhelming noise from the video games around me. I made sure to remember the title so that when I got back to the dorm I could listen to it again.

It’s a nice and calm feeling. It illustrates how I feel wandering around this place – like I wouldn’t mind taking just a little bit more time. I get everywhere in the U.S. by driving, or rather riding, but here I have to rely on my own two feet and maybe my bicycle (his name is Shinji). That way I can feel more freedom. I can go and stop as I please, and I can take my time.
